Update on Visiting Wessex Care Homes and Centres

We are delighted to now be able to allow visitors back to Wessex Care homes and care centres. However, there are some strict rules that everyone will have to adhere to in order to continue to protect our residents from the spread of Covid-19. Read our Covid-19 protocols here.

The government updated their guidance in August and we have spent the last few weeks preparing our homes with visiting areas including signage to help visitors be aware of our procedures and the precautions required when visiting.

Risk assessing each care home visit

Risk assessing each care home visit

Each visit will need to be organised in advance and a thorough risk assessment is prepared for each type of visit, which will confirm which type of visit will be the least risk to each individual resident, the group they live with and to the visitor.

All bookings will be strictly through the central office and visitors will be emailed with guidance prior to the visit.

If a resident lacks capacity to consent to the visit type our risk assessment has indicated then a ‘Best Interest’ decision will have to be considered in the normal way. We will continue to support all the other types of visiting as these have generally gone very well and been very well received by all involved.

What will I have to do when visiting Wessex Care?

What will I have to do when visiting Wessex Care?

Visitors will be asked to wear different levels of PPE and hand washing and sanitising must be completed throughout the visit, for which we have prepared visual guides to help remind people of the correct procedure for this.

We have also made a sign to remind people of our rules during their visit, which we understand may be a difficult and emotional time for family members especially having not seen their loved ones in person for some time, but all the measures in place are necessary to help protect the health of those residing and working at Wessex Care.

We are very grateful to all for understanding and for helping us to implement these challenging restrictions, so that visits may continue and be enjoyed by all those involved.

Below are some examples of the signs that we have created to help guide visitors during their visit and we look forward to seeing you again after such a long lock down period and uncertain time.

How do I book a visit to Wessex Care?

All family members of residents have been sent information on this process, and we would like to reiterate that if you would like to book a visit to Wessex Care to spend time with your loved one, please contact our head office on 01722 336933 where the details of your visit can be arranged.

Please note that current guidance calls for one consistent visitor per resident so we will ask our resident who they wish and or ask families / friends to agree amongst themselves who that one consistent visitor should be.
