Welcome to Janet Hope

Welcome to Janet Hope our new Placements & Quality Assurance Manager

This is a new position for Wessex Care but combines and essentially supports two fundamental functions of the daily drive for quality and efficient/effective placements.

Quality:

This dedicated focus on all aspects of the quality of our care provision for residents, family and visiting professionals feedback, to support and resolution to any niggles or concerns regarding our service, we have always seen as a corner stone to consistently high quality care provision.

Constantly challenging ourselves and every employee to be their best and do their best. Our Care Quality Commission [CQC] rating of ‘Good’ and above for over 15 years is testament to this commitment. However we must never remain complacent and today our dependency levels and turnover placement support to the hospital and the community has never been higher so our operational staff and mangers need this additional support to maintain the exacting standards we make no apology for setting ourselves and every service and customer we are responsible for.

Placement:

Coming to stay in care or be delivered a care service at home is one of the most profound decisions you our your loved one will make and be involved with. It is fundamental that we as the provider of that service challenge ourselves to get this right.

Wessex Care provides specialist services on behalf of Wiltshire Council and the NHS specifically Intermediate Care beds which support a multi-agency / disciplinary team of professionals to 1) accept referrals from GPs direct to avoid unnecessary attendance of Adults and Older People to the A&E service or 2) have been in hospital following an acute episode, are medically fit to be discharge but require a rehabilitation service before returning home.

These beds and indeed all of our 127 beds are a vital resource to Wiltshire Council and the local Salisbury District hospital being the main provider of out of hospital residential services thus supporting the through put and freeing up of hospital services.

To this end we have developed a dedicated post to focus down on these areas and ensure customer experience and flow is properly addressed and supported at all points from admission through to discharge.

We have worked with Janet for some years in her previous role and it was with great pleasure and excitement that she agreed to not only join the Wessex Care Family but to spearhead this new post. Welcome Janet.

Janet’s message:

I have worked in the NHS for over 30years in various roles in both Salisbury and Winchester hospitals. I began in an administration role in 1975 and subsequently worked my way through several management course culminating in heading up the Integrated Discharge Service (IDS) across South Wiltshire, until joining Wessex Care in April 2019.

In my early days in the NHS I took on several development roles in both Salisbury and Winchester hospital. I returned to Salisbury in 2007 to manage 16 operating theatres. I have also managed the surgical, ambulatory and musculoskeletal directorates over various periods of time and became Head of Patient Flow at Salisbury District Hospital 2014. In my role as Head of the IDS I gained extensive experience in working with older people and their needs and worked closely with all the external agencies across South Wiltshire, including social services to provide appropriate placement and care for our elderly population. All of my roles have given me a very rounded and in depth understanding of health and social care. I am delighted to have joined Wessex Care as the Placements and Quality Assurance Manager a new role, but with all the core values of person centred, quality, efficient and effective multi-agency / disciplinary care provision dedicate to our local community.

On a personal note, I live in Salisbury, I am married and have three wonderful children and 6 even more wonderful Grandchildren.

I look forward to meeting everyone associated with this new role over the coming months.
